I am constantly having tips on Stripe not being completed, looks like I'm losing a good amount of money. Any suggestions on how to get customer to complete them? I am also getting a lot of people asking why Venmo isn't integrated, I have a separate QR up for Venmo but requiring (Drunk) people to scan 2 things is apparently is a lot to ask for. Please Help.
- They think they are gaming the system by faking the tip, I would suggest you shame them, educate them or essentially push those requests down further to show they are not clever and are simply annoying the host. This inot unlike the fake tip in person where they come waving the cash, ask for a bunch of songs and then walk away with the money. The irony is that most people believe the word tips stands for "To Insure Prompt Service" which is inaccurate but none-the-less every time someone spins that screen around looking for a tip after handing me a bottled water or a bag of chips (or something crazy easy) I get irritated but when it comes to DJs tipping is like using the fast play option on a Jukebox. I understand tipping culture, my close family (wife and daughter) work on tips and are often not tipped even with excellent service, as hosts we are in a unique position to reward those who do before the service is rendered.
- Venmo was initially a tipping option but then they did some stuff to the way it works on the front and I haven't revisited it since, we essentially make our little bit of income from the app from the small fee we take from the tip which is only 3%, Stripe being the rest of the fee.
- The paid accounts have the option of adding custom headers and footers to every page so we have some hosts that put their QR code there although we do not offer support on that. You'll have to host the image of the QR code somewhere (you can't upload images there).
The reality is that they are asking about social payments as an excuse not to tip you.
I've had venues say "x, y and z" complained you didn't play their requests promptly to which I respond: "well I don't want those who did tip to have similar complaints. You as a venue owner pay your staff partly on tips so that you don't have to, the same rules apply to me". I realize this takes some balls however, you're time is valuable, ask for a raise.
I will step off my soapbox now LOL.
Are you the host that mostly works in college areas?
A bit of anecdotal experience. I also do live streaming (not DJ related) and often get people screaming in chat to give them a shoutout, I ignore it but then occasionally I'll get PayPal, super chat, or donation with a polite request... no problem right?! That only gets the people in chat complaining more... if you give into it, it only gets worse.
Unfortunately, I do mostly college bars or private parties. I don't know how complicated the tipping with Stripe is, but these people unfortunately are drunk morons that have trouble completing the actual requests. They don't read enough to understand that they have to put their name in and then submit. They type a song or artist in and the tap the one they want and.......That's it they think they're done! Then complain that I didn't call them up. I had some idiots come up to my lyric screen, thought it was a touchscreen (IT'S NOT) and tried tapping it. I do think that for the most part people don't finish the tip because they simply don't read and follow thru, not trying to game the system.
I do believe I have a paid account, some directions or forum on the custom headers would be appreciated.
I haven't had owners/mgrs complain because they know the simple amount of volume I deal with, usually 10-15 requests come in at once and I arrange them to let people who haven't sung top of the list.
I get paid well enough and tipping is so light in these places I don't see it as a necessity but at the end of the night when the queue says $30 to $50 in tips from Stripe, yet I got $0 something seems inherently wrong.
queue says $30 to $50
Are you manually confirming these? There's been no other reports of missing tips and it is directly connected to your own Stripe account, what does your Stripe Dashboard say about these?
